Larry Glick - WBZ Boston - June 30, 1977 (Part 5) The beginning of hour number 3 just after the network news, Larry reads the winning lottery numbers, and then he reads the weather where he dates the show “Thursday June 30th, 1977”. He then goes into his sports shtick (snapping fingers..”hi sports fans and the BZ scoreboard, Ace Glick reporting”) a whistle (shave-and-a-hair-cut-two-bits) and it’s done.

An editorial, some commercials, and then Larry spends the next 10 minutes talking with June Cooper at Alan’s Truck stop (who sponsored the segment). June introduces several truckers who talk with Larry about their craft. This is a unique way to include a sponsor within the program itself, all the while providing entertainment within the shows format.

Larry talks with a caller about various ethnicities. What Larry said would today probably be considered politically incorrect. Back then, people were not as uptight as they are today, or perhaps it was just Larry Glick’s easygoing style that made it funny.

Ellen, a caller from Detroit wants to know how much time before news because she always seems to get on and Larry runs out of time. Larry and Ellen discuss the different way people from different parts of the country pronounce names differently. Quincy-Quinzy; Mother-Mutha, etc.

Caller “Uwe” (Swedish name, but originally from Germany) calls Larry, they then begin having a conversation in German. Funny! End of the hour.
